Terry Buchmiller, M.D., FACS

It has been my pleasure to serve as President of the Massachusetts Chapter of the American College of Surgeons (MCACS) over the past year.

My colleagues from the Chapter and I attended the American College of Surgeons Leadership Conference and Advocacy Summit in Washington, DC last April. The Chapter also held a competition to select residents to attend the conference and the winning entries were submitted by Dr. Elizabeth King of Boston Medical Center and Dr. Haytham Kaafarani of Massachusetts General Hospital.

I am delighted to provide a report on the activities of the Massachusetts Chapter of the American College of Surgeons. The 2012 Annual Meeting had a final attendance of 138 which included 80 residents. I would particularly like to thank Chapter members who sponsored a resident, a feature that will again be available for this year’s Annual Meeting. I would also like to express my appreciation to the 19 industry partners who contributed to the 2012 meeting with exhibit tables and sponsorships.
